Celebrity Photographer- Editing 101
APERTURE EDITING ASSIGNMENT ONE
Congratulations! You landed a photo gig at Vanity Fair, one of the top magazines in the country. Your first client with the magazine is none other than the Material Girl, one of the biggest pop stars in history, Madonna. But, with time, pop stars start to lose their luster. Your job is to make this image of Madonna worth of the magazine. To do so, you will be using Aperture editing software.
DIRECTIONS
1. Open up image file and save to desktop.
2. Title the image p1_last_first_aperture edit.
3. Drag the photo to the aperture icon. Label your project with you name and edits.
4. Click on the adjustments pane.
5. Scroll down to levels.
6. Adjust the shadows, midtoness and highlights.
7. Adjust the temperature and get rid of the blue tone.
8. open up quick brushes.
9. Select the skin smoothing brush.
10. Set the brush size a 20, softness to .6, and strength to .6
11. Smooth the wrinkles around the mouth eyes and nose.
12. Set the brush size to a larger brush 25-30, softness to .7, and strength to .5
13. Smooth the wrinkles around the neck.
14. Select the sharpen brush.
15. Set the brush size to a smaller brush 15-20, softness to .8, and strength to .4
16. Sharpen the eyes.
17. Select the saturation brush. Set the brush size to a smaller brush 15-20, softness to .8, and strength to .4
18. Add more red to the lips.
19. Add more saturation to the eyes.
20. Go to File, Export.
21. Make sure the export is at jpeg, original size.
22. Export your file and save a copy in your folder.

When you are finished, select two of your own images to edit in aperture, and save a before and after of the images.

After a slight fail during an editorial assignment, you decided to set your sights on Teen People Magazine's Photography Department. One of your first assignments is to make this image publication ready. Use skin smoothing, retouch and blur quickbrushes to make Harry's photo publication ready.
