BEGINNING PHOTO FINAL EVALUATION
For the end of the semester, you will need an online Weebly portfolio with the following pages:
a. HOME: Introduction page with a short welcome and 3-4 of your top images
b. ABOUT ME: artist’s statement and biography,
C. PORTFOLIO: portfolio of your top Portrait, Still Life and Motion images as slideshow with 10-15 images each (from the entire semester)
D. FINAL: the Evaluation Essay
Final Directions:
OPEN TEXT EDIT, OPEN OFFICE OR YOUR EMAIL TO TYPE THE ESSAY. Save a backup.
When you are finished typing the essay, add this essay to your Final page. Create a new page on your weebly and title it FINAL, paste your essay onto the page, and click the publish button. Open your weebly in a new tab, double check your weebly site and site address, click the close button, and log out.
Evaluation Essay
Write a three to four paragraph essay evaluating your photography skills. Your essay should include the following areas: technical skills, artistic development, overall assessment of your work, and areas for improvement.
Paragraph One- Technical skills
Evaluate your technical skills. How well do you know the camera and its controls? How effective are you at being able to use the camera manually, adjust settings, adjust to achieve specific effects? What do you still need to learn to have better control of the camera?
Paragraph Two- Artistic Development
Evaluate your artistic development. How well do you use the elements of art and composition in your work? Are you able to make choices about how you want your photograph to look and achieve the effect you are looking for? Are there any photographs that you have taken this semester that you are particularly proud of? How have you grown creatively in the past semester? How would you like to grow as a photographer and artist in the future?
Paragraph Three- Overall Assessment
Do you think the work you’ve done is a reflection of your skills? How much effort did you put in this semester? How much effort did you put into the final project? What do you still need to learn to become a better photographer?
Paragraph Four-- Class Assessment
Evaluate the class. What parts of instruction were most effective for you? What projects were effective? What assignments would have helped you to become a better photographer? What would you need from this class in order improve your skills? How will photography help you in the future? *If you are interested in moving on to Advanced Photography: a) do you think your grades and work show that you are prepared for advanced photo? b) what would you like to focus on/ learn about as an advanced student?
